Chloe Trieff- Final Assignment

For my final assignment I have decided to continue on working on my Corona Virus photos. I personally believe that we are living in a very important time in our nations history and it should be heavily documented. We need to show future generations how bad all of this was so that it does not happen again. Important events like these should be recorded in order for the younger generations to really see and learn on what our country was going through. My photographs represent the emotion and intensity that this virus has brought us. They show the daily loves of people who are going through this dramatic time. I feel that my photographs are very important when looking back on these times.

I think it is very important that we stay inside as much as possible during this time. If you do choose to go out you should make sure to wear a mask and gloves. There are people out there who have a higher risk to getting the virus and it is important to take the necessary precautions in order to keep them as well as yourselves safe.

Chloe Trieff- Photo Assignment #4

Response to Corona Virus

I have decided to continue my project with the Covid-19 outbreak. I personally feel that we are enduring some hard times as a nation and my photos express the emotion that some of us are feeling right now. My first photo is of some blockades that I found at the Kensico Dam near my house. I personally feel that this belongs in my project because we are all barricaded in our houses until this outbreak is over. The second photo is of a glove I found at the Kensico Dam along one of the paths that I was on. I feel that this goes along with my project because it demonstrates the amount of protection that we have to wear in order to keep ourselves safe even when we go in public. The last picture I took was on top of the Kensico Dam to show how separated everyone is in order make sure that no one is spreading the virus. In the picture I also have a man wearing a mask and gloves to show how precautions some people are being when they go to public places during this outbreak. At first I didn’t want to post my last photo but after looking deeper into it I realized that it would be a perfect photo based on what is going on in the world right now.

I personally feel that my photographs reflect the feeling of loneliness and depression which I feel that most people are feeling now a days. I hope that some day soon we can get out of this pandemic and get our lives back to normal. Stay Safe!

Chloe Trieff -Assignment 3

With my photographs I wanted have a sort of depressing and loneliness feel to them. Since I have been home I haven’t really been able to go out and do the things that I would like to do on a daily basis. I’ve just been stuck in my house for the past 3 weeks. I shot in black and white in order to make the photos look more eerie and dark. My initial goal was to photograph a ton of people walking around but when I went out to shoot I couldn’t find a whole lot of people walking around. I think that the inter-relationship that all my photos have with each other is that they all give off the feeling of loneliness.

Throughout my time at home and with everything going on, I have been doing my best to practice social distancing. My father has an autoimmune disease and is he contracts the virus it could be fatal for him. I have been doing my best to stay inside and away from most people so that I don’t have a strong chance of becoming a carrier. All of the stuff that is going on right now has got me feeling really scared for the future. I’m very sad that I can’t go back to school and see my friends. In total I have just been feeling very depressed and lonely by this whole situation and I feel that my photographs perfectly displays how I’m currently feeling.

Photo Assignment #2 By Chloe Trieff

Philippe Halsman

Original Photograph of Marlon Brando

Philippe Halsman was an American portrait photographer born in what is now Latvia who photographed famous celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe during the 1950’s. He was born in 1906 and he died in 1979. He took some crazy and unique portraits of his subjects doing wild things like jumping in the air and making silly faces. I really liked that he took a different and unserious perspective with his portraits. This photograph is of the famous actor Marlon Brando. It was taken in 1950. I thought this photograph was very interesting because of the way the lighting hits Marlon Brandos face. You have some very harsh light coming in from the middle, maybe upper lefthand corner and maybe a smaller less bright light shining a little bit on his ear.

Runner ups

I chose the photograph that I chose over the others because I personally thought that it looked the most like the one of Marlon Brando and it was the cleanest. I felt that the others we a little blurry or the light was hitting her face not exactly as I wanted. I also felt that the final photograph should be in portrait and not landscape. I am really happy with the way my photographs turned out and my model looks absolutely stunning!!

Photo Assignment 1 (Imogen Cunningham)-Chloe Trieff

Original
Imitation

Imogen Cunningham was an American photographer who liked to photograph plants as well as nudes and industrial landscapes. The photograph that I chose for her is a 1949 picture of aloe vera. I was sadly not able to find aloe vera to photograph so I took a picture of witch-hazel which can have very similar healing effects to aloe vera. There are many facial products today that use aloe vera and witch hazel as some of the active ingredients so I wanted to go for a healing theme with my project. My goal in order to recreate the photo as much as possible was to find a plant that has some of the same qualities as aloe vera. I also wanted to find a plant that had some of the same sort of structure that an aloe vera plant has. I also wanted the photo to be black and white in order to make it look as closely to the original as possible. I do feel that this image is the best image I took that relates closely to Imogen Cunningham’s photo of aloe vera
