I was attracted to the unique style of Aaron Sisikind. I decided to imitate by the pattern, form and textures. Sometimes it takes time for myself to know what the picture is. I keep all the pictures in black and white since the colors would distract the attention from the objects itself. The other reason is also because the original works are in black and white. For the first one, the original picture was a peeling wall. There is not a lot of walls near the place I live. However, I saw this tree’s texture is similar to the peeling wall. The tree is also formed with a lot of small parts. The second picture was some of the paper which were burned on a wall. In the middle of the picture, there is a blank part. There were some burning wood in the backyard of my house. The white part of the wood is the texture left after burning. I took several pictures from different perspective. The fourth picture is a small pond with some plants and the water went through in the middle. The day I went out it was a raining day. There are some pipes besides the house. When the pipe drop water to the soil, it will form a small pond. I capture the moment when the water drop a few into the soil. The following picture is some paper falling off the wall. For making the wood look bigger so I put my camera closer to the object itself. The fourth picture is some of the rocks were binding by ropes. I found there is a big rock with some of the grass on it. It looks similar but less heavier. The grass is closer to a decoration on it. I was into the extraordinary textures whether it’s real or not. I decided to discover more of the textures from the nature. The two pictures are the trees branches and the cover for a water pump. For the editing part, most Aaron’s works focuse on the details of the objects. I made some changes to the photos to look more clear. Also, in the process of editing, I did not choose to blur any parts of the photo. In the original photos, they are usually in darker version of black and white. Therefore, I also make the black part darker so it would separate the colors clearly.

The photographer I choose for the assignment is a German photographer Alfred Ehrhardt. I’m interested in imitating his works because of the unique textures and patterns he includes in his photos. His pictures are mostly about nature.

Imitate 3

All of the pictures I took might follow specific pattern or has unique textures which are similar to the original one. I think it’s interesting how nature has its own rule of organizing creatures. Although each of the creature has its own unmacthed texture but when they are mixed together, there is another possibility. I made all of the photos to black and white since I have done these before, this is my first try of doing it.I took these pictures in the community I live right now. There are not a lot of plants there so I would minimize the scene. For the first photo, I placed it in the vertical form to look closer to a path that people walk. I could not find some real flowers so I decided to use leaves for the second imitation. For the third one, the texture of the rock is quite interesting. It is bumpy and rough which forms the contrast witht he original one.

This is my first intimation. In the original pictures, there are a lot of extended tree branches. I found
similar trees to take pictures of. I also cut part of the photo I take to be more like the original one

The last one is probably my favorite one since I think the objects are similar and also the color of the photo are similar.

Photo assignment 2

Charles Harris was an African-American photographer from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He was known for his photographs of residents and prominent visitors to Pittsburgh, including musicians and baseball players, which often appeared in the Pittsburgh CourierThis photo was created during 1940-1950.This is a portrait of woman wearing belted dress with buttoned front, eyeglasses, and knotted pearl necklace, posed in front of window with venetian blind, in interior with scalloped edge plant pot, and small round sink

I was inspired by the blind shadow collocation of Charles Harris. I decided to use blind window as the background. In the first two pictures, I put the lamp on the right side to create the light affect so the light would be reflect on the face. My roommate is holding her cat so it’s more relaxing. Since the lady in the original photo seems causal and nature. The last photo is the closest to the original one. I asked my friend to put her phone as the light source next to blind window so the shadow will be on the wall.

Photo Assignment 1(Franz Fiedler)

This photo is taken by German photographer Franz Fiedler during 1930s. He made a plant collection from 1930 to 1939.I choose this photo is because the focus of the plant interests me. The branches are expanded without any alive vibe which showed a little bit depressed mood about the season change.
The mood is similar to the previous photo. These two are shown the sadness of the season change because most of plant would not survive during the winter time. This was the rose my roommate bought from Giant. Recently it was withered because of the cold weather. I thought there might be a connection between these two photos. Therefore, I put it in front of the house and then focus on the only bud.
